Although going to a store and simply buying a pie is easier it seems to taste better when prepared by your own hands because there is more than ingredients in it, there is love baked in. The Chiffon strawberry pie is no different. When making anything by hand, it is usually a good idea to take inventory of all the ingredients needed.
For this pie you will need 2 1/2 cups of freshly sliced strawberries, 1 envelope of unflavored gelatin, 2 or 3 tbsps of lemon juice, 1/4 cup of sugar, 3 egg whites 3/4 to 1 1/2 cups of whipped cream. Some recipes, like he Carnation version, include 1/3 cup of water and 1 tbsp of all purpose flour. Others say to have 4 or so strawberries, each cut into halves for decoration when the pie is finished. If you don't plan on making the crust by hand, purchase one for the filling.
Mix the gelatin and sugar together, followed by the lemon, egg whites, salt (and water). This mixture should be put in a pot, warmed and stirred until boiling. Afterward, it should be added to the strawberries (crushed) in a large bowl, covered and then placed in the fridge to cool for about 60 to 75 minutes. The whipped cream should be beaten until there are stiff peaks in it and then added to the mixture. Pour this into the pie pan, place plastic wrap over it and place in the fridge for about 4 hours. When it is done you can decorate with the halved strawberries. Otherwise, slice it up and serve it.

There are many recipes for apple bars. Some don't use any toppings, but others can use caramel, raisins, or vanilla glaze. To make caramel apple bars, you need two cups of quick cooking oats, two cups of all purpose flour, one teaspoon of baking soda, one and one half cups of packed brown sugar, one and one fourth cup of butter or margarine, and one and one half cups of caramel ice cream topping. Other ingredients include half a cup of all purpose flour, two cups of coarsely chopped apples, and a half cup of chopped walnuts or pecans.
Grease a 15 by 10 by 1 inch pan. Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Melt the butter in a small pan over low heat. Combine the two cups of flour, two cups of quick cooking oats, the baking soda, and melted butter in a large bowl. Stir until crumbly, mix and then press half of it into the greased pan. Bake for eight minutes and put the rest aside for now. Mix the caramel topping and the half cup of flour over medium heat. Stir and boil until the mixture is thickened. The apple pieces and nuts can now be spread over the baked crust. Pour the caramel mix over the apples and nuts, making sure that it is evenly distributed. The leftover crumbly mixture should be sprinkled over it and then the pan can go into the oven for twenty to twenty five minutes. Let it cool, cut into bars, and cover it completely before storing.
This recipe makes 48, or four dozen, bars. You can find the recipe at http://www.cookingcache.com/dessert/caramelapplebars.shtml?&rdid=rc1
